Idols give us a sense of being in control, and we can locate them by looking at our nightmares. What do we fear the most? What, if we lost it, would make life not worth living?

Dear Jesus,

When reading this book, thinking of Abraham's journey, I really want to knee down.  I want everything in control.  I'm afraid losing of a lot of things. It's been tough for me these months.  When I say I give everything to you, I still have a slightest hope that you will do the things according to my will.  It's difficult for me to surrender totally.  Help me!  Now I'm trouble hearted.

The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away;
May the name of the Lord be praised.

I can do all this through you, Jesus, who gives me strength.

Please have mercy on me!
